Choose any combination of topics from the ones listed below. These programs can
be offered in conjunction with or in lieu of a Guided Instructional Kayak Lesson
& Tour.
TOPICS
Kayaking
1)
Fundamentals of Kayaking - Learn
about the many different types of kayaks and which one is right for you, a brief
overview of basic strokes and
rescues, how to buy a kayak and the many places where you can kayak.
2)
Kayaking Stroke Clinic – This
is a ‘Hands On” interactive program – equipment provided by presenter - More
extensive lecture and practice on the most common Kayaking strokes
- Forward and Reverse Sweep Strokes, Power Stroke, Draw Stroke, Braces
and Rudder Stroke.
3)
Kayaking Rescue Techniques - Lecture and video presentation on various types of self and group
rescue and Eskimo rolling.
Kayaking Related Lectures
4)
The Wild Ponies of Assateague Island – Lecture on the wild horse populations of the eastern United States –
especially Assateague Island Va. & Md., and how they got there.
5)
The South Shore Gold Coast - History
of the Connetquot River area – Oakdale and Great River,
and the millionaires who built their mansions there.
Program
Length – approx. 1 ˝ hrs – 2 hrs
Cost
- $150 /lecture*, 4 lectures for $500*
Cost includes handouts and participant’s materials/equipment where
applicable.

clubs, youth groups and libraries. Lectured
at 45 Libraries on Long Island.
Purpose:
To educate the public about the benefits and possible hazards of Kayaking.
To inform people about different types of Kayaks and equipment
and how
and where to purchase them.
To inform people about the best and safest places to Kayak
as well as which places to avoid.
To answer any questions people may have about Kayaking
in general.
To educate and entertain people with info about Kayaking related
subjects-
The Wild Ponies of Assateague Island and The South Shore Gold Coast.
